Musical Genre
It is very hard to ‘pigeon hole’ the music of the Mesa Band into a single ‘genre.’ Evidence of its musical influences are from a generation of bands that included the Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the Eagles and initially the music would lend itself for a nomination into the ‘Country Rock’ genre.
However, if you listen closely to the passion in the lyrics and the often subtle chord structures the music of the Mesa Band may well obtain a better chance of success by placing its music in the ‘World Music’ genre.
‘World Music’ covers a global and very diverse audience who all have their own musical cultures. For many the opportunity to discover the music of another culture is to discover the culture as a whole. As someone once said, "The truest expression of a people is in its dances and in its music."
The music of the Mesa Band represents the land and culture of the people who live and work in the ‘Pilbara Region’ of Western Australia. Often considered to be one of the harshest climates in the world, the Pilbara has a unique rugged beauty that is well and truly captured in the words & music of the Mesa Band.
